Splice tape is available in many different types depending on the types of materials that need to be spliced together.  Splice tape can be categorized based on the type of carrier used in the tape. Paper, film and tissue are common carriers for splice tapes..  

For example, when splicing tape liner together or some other  silicone coated surface, a silicone tape with a silicone pressure sensitive adhesive is used.
