Marking tape is used for identification purposes.  Offered in every color of the rainbow, marking tapes are usually made from a PVC, polyvinyl chloride, carrier and an aggressive rubber based pressure sensitive adhesive.  Marking tapes are supplied in rolls or die cut dots, arrows, footprints and other unique shapes. 

Floor marking using pressure sensitive tapes can help identify potential hazards or traffic lanes.  PVC striped tapes with various color combinations are both visible and durable.

• Black & Yellow = warning/hazard
• Black & White = marked aisle
• Red & White = fire equipment
• Green & White = first aid, safety

In the coating industry, silicone tapes are used to flag and mark splices or other conditions/defects that must be addressed further in the process.  Colored carton tapes are used to mark boxes for easy identification and shipping.
