Carpet tape is a specific type of splicing tape designed to join 2 pieces of carpet together. It has an extremely aggressive rubber adhesive, double coated on a cloth carrier. Commonly used in the convention industry, users prefer a plastic liner vs. a paper liner because it removes without tearing, making installation quick and easy. Cloth carpet tapes are intended for indoor applications because the cloth has a tendency to absorb moisture.
For outdoor applications, a special type of carpet tape is made with a polyethylene carrier. Polyethylene has a very low rate of water absorption compared to cloth which makes this a perfect mildew resistant outdoor carpet tape.
