Pressure sensitive tapes are used extensively in the production of automobiles and in a variety of after market applications .  Automotive tapes speed up assembly and often times are used to replace mechanical fasteners or spot welds.  Compared to nuts and bolts or welds, the use of double coated tapes will spread the load over a larger area and also reduce the possibility for corrosion to occur.  Corrosion is reduced because holes are not required. In addition, a double sided tape will provide a barrier or insulator between dissimilar metals preventing galvanic corrosion. 

 Very high bond tapes have been used for years to mount body side moldings to doors and fenders and to mount emblems to the automobile.   PVC, Polyvinyl chloride, tapes are used for wrapping wire harness assemblies.  There are various types of tapes formulated for specific applications and needs including, sound reduction, flame resistance, marking/color coding, machine application, controlled unwind to reduce problems related with carpal tunnel syndrome and high temperature/engine compartment applications. 

A wide variety of masking tapes and protective tapes are commonly used as automotive tapes.
